Hermes Hermes And More Hermes

A gathering of flamingos is a flamboyance, there's a flock of birds, a school of fish, a litter of puppies, a pride of lions and then there is the Heritage Luxury Auction.

Hermes Hermes Hermes .. The matte crocodile Birkin at the top has a 76,000.00 beginning bid (actually it's 90,820.00 with the buyers premium). A collector's dream and actually far less than Jane Birkin's Birkin auctioned to raise funds for the survivors of the Japanese Disasters at a sweet 167,000.00.

Drowning in Birkins ... and extreme luxury.

(umm, authentic and actually all are substantially less than those rather questionable ones on eBay ..)

  1. They are gorgeous. Still, I cannot fathom spending that kind of cash on a bag. That is some serious disposable income! xo

  2. Everything is so (too?) accessible, I love that there are craft made things that are a fortune and special. Scary numbers ... but some can afford these.

I do adore these but only ever owned a JPG for Hermes raincoat that I absolutely loved.

I don't understand cars that over 100,000. Somehow that is more disturbing to me.

Dreaming about that nice ordinary black one .. but not on my lust list. Just fascinated to see a flock of Hermes.

  5. Or you could buy the bus. Or two.

This is a very grand auction.

Collectors could be museums or, umm, rick people.

  7. I wish I were in New York to look at these and be at the auction.
    Same old story, wrong city.

  8. If I were ever to get a Birkin, (unlikely), I would go for something mini, in red croc, like the one in that movie, "Le Divorce".

  12. Very beautiful... that croc piece is incredible. Still, regardless of how much money I earn, I don't ever see myself spending that kind of cash on a bag (i.e. a piece of leather I carry my stuff around in). I'd actually be more willing to spend it on a car! Trust me, a 100K car is unbelievable if you've ever taken one of those around a racetrack (though I'd be more likely to buy a yacht than a car if I had the income).

  13. I do admit to a love of Hermes - they just always seem to get it right. I actually own a Birkin (bought YEARS ago before these astronomical prices) and I must say that as much as I love it, I have bags I love more. I actually prefer the Kelly - I'd love a well worn one with patina.
