  4. Well, considering China has almost as many billionaires as the States, it's not surprising. When I go to Hong Kong, I'm always shocked by how much people spend on the logo brands, and I completely agree that Russia and the Middle East are right up there too. I like that Karl knows what he's talking about. So many designers are quite out of touch when it comes to the business of fashion and leave that up to their holding companies.

  5. I have to agree with Haute World, I think the New Capitalists have been forgotten by fashion a lot of the time. It seems a shame and it is great to see Lagerfield, pompous though he may be, recognising the new economy of fashion.

  6. Agree, Ms. Haute and Hannah ... Karl is frighteningly intelligent and the vagaries of business run through his veins.

It must be so boring to be adulated as he is.

    I rather like him.

  7. I do not always have symapthies for Lagerfeld, but he is about everything he said and I like how he puts his statements into words.

  8. Karl Lagerfeld is such an inspiration. He's so wise and talented! I really don't know how he does it...and for so many years. I completely agree with him that Haute Couture can only be made in Paris...Creative and with a business head ...a very rare breed.... Love him.
